Food on the Go- What to Pack for a Full Day Out with an 11 Month Old

The house is spotless- toys are picked up, play yard is folded, beds are made, rugs are vacuumed, dishes are done, counters are wiped.

If only all of this tidiness were for my own enjoyment…

We’re trying to sell our house, which basically means we get to pretend like we don’t live here for the foreseeable future.  Because you know that’s SUPER easy to do when you have a dog that sheds all year long and a baby whose favorite activity is pulling things off of shelves.

I’m so grateful that my in-laws live nearby.  We’ll be using their house as home base whenever we’re told to scram by our realtor.  Today we’ll be out of the house from 11 am to 6:30 pm.  Fun times!

The real challenge is packing enough food to eat.  If Sammy were a bit older, today is totally the day he would be introduced to the wonder of a Happy Meal.  Since that’s not an option (yet), and he pretty much refuses baby food, I’m packing a ton of food options.

Sam’s lunch: Broccoli, Avocado, Banana, Hardboiled Egg, Irish Brown Bread

Sam’s dinner: Roast Butternut Squash & Parsnips, No Salt Marinara, and Pasta

Sam’s snacks: Gerber Organic Pouch

Mama’s lunch: Salad & Orange

Mama’s snacks: Banana, String Cheese, Irish Brown Bread, Cashews

As you can see, we’ve got good appetites in this house.  And…I just got a call from the realtor- another showing at 11:15!  The good news is that it’s story time day- time to Itsy Bitsy ourselves out of here.
