First, let’s talk about pancakes. I made some buttermilk cornmeal pancakes from The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook last night and I think I heard angels singing. It might also have been the grim reaper moaning as he came to get me for eating half a stick of butter. Though you would have had to pry the maple syrup out of my greasy fingers, I would have died happily.
Thankfully, I woke again this morning and made the decision to save the rest of the pancakes for the wee one. He won’t appreciate them like I did, but at least I don’t have to cook breakfast today. If you’re into buttermilk cornmeal pancakes (and if you aren’t then I’m not sure why you’re here), I’ll be writing more about my love for them and other recipes from Cheryl and Griff Day as I cook my way through the book. Stay tuned.
Perhaps you woke up this morning and rather than changing your first born’s name to “Butter”, you committed to healthy eating and supporting local business, In that case, head on down to the Scituate Farmers Market in Scituate, MA. It’s open every Wednesday from 3 pm to 7 pm and is in the St. Mary’s Church parking lot right on First Parish Rd.
Sam touched all the vegetables to make sure they were fresh. I’m sure the farmers didn’t mind his quality control at all.
I grabbed a bag of chocolate chip cookies from a women who bakes out of her house in Scituate.
One woman brought a variety of herb and vegetable plant starters. I bought two tomato plants that are already on their way to dead. Apparently, I can only keep people and dogs alive.
“Hey mom, how come I don’t have any cool toys like this at home?”
On that note, I’m off to guzzle some coffee, eat some bananas and almond butter, and start my day. Happy Wednesday!
