Today’s recipe features two of my favorite foods: hamburgers and french fries. Last night, while soaking up the last rays of summer, I grilled outside and made sweet potato fries with truffle oil and pecorino cheese.  The all-beef hamburgers are flavorful and juicy.  The sweet potato french fries are sweet and salty.  What’s not to love?

Even better, the entire meal was done in 30 minutes which makes it a great weeknight dinner.  Even the wee one gobbled down his burger and fries- he’s obsessed with sweet potatoes!

A note on the photos:

As I cook some of my old favorite recipes, I’ve been taking some glamour shots.  Some of my old photos are a bit messy (and maybe even unfocused- I’m sorry) and I know so much more about how to compose a photo and how to use a camera.

These days I use a digital Canon Rebel XT for my nicer shots and a Nikon Cool Pix point and shoot for my day to day photos.  I also edit my pictures in Picasa and PicMonkey, both free programs which allow me even more control over the quality.

What do you top your hamburger with- ketchup/mustard/pickles?

Cheese or no cheese?

Nothing like a good little burger and fries. Looks tasty to me.

As for the photos … food photography is tough! I’ve been slowly learning. I’ve shot so many other things for newspapers/magazines and other professional publications — but food is tough! :)

There are some foods that are just impossible, like beans. How do you make beans appealing in a photo? Oh, the dilemmas.
