It’s almost 8 pm and I’m sipping my second glass of Big House The Usual Suspect Cabernet Sauvignon. According to their website, it’s a fruit bomb with neutral oak. I say it’s juicy but not too tannic. It’s very drinkable, which would explain why I’m on glass number 2.
It hasn’t been a crazy day. In fact, today was pretty routine. We went grocery shopping for a few things this morning and then went to playgroup. Our town hosts a weekly playgroup for residents in the basement of town hall. I got to chat with some nice moms and Sam got to hug strangers and steal snacks. Win win.
Our trip to Trader Joe’s was for some extras. Usually I only go shopping once a week, but I decided to spend my allowance on some special ingredients for a few recipes I’m working on. From today’s trip, left to right: smoked paprika, clover honey, strawberry jam, dried cranberries, creamy peanut butter, almond meal, and assorted pumpkins.
I picked up the smoked paprika because I feel like I hear about it everywhere these days: Cooking Light, America’s Test Kitchen, The Splendid Table. According to Chris Kimball, it’s a “game changer”. All I know is it smells good- spicy and rich. I’ll report back on whether or not it transforms my cooking.
Now I’m watching ABC Wednesday comedies and about to dive into the People magazine that the mail lady delivered to our house by mistake. Life is good.
What are you drinking tonight?
Any interesting grocery store finds lately?
