This weekend has been an absolute whirlwind of excitement (and overstimulation for some of us).
Saturday we drove up to New London, NH with the husband’s aunt and the wee one to meet Tomie DePaola! Nick’s aunt has been friends with Tomie for a long time and has gotten many of his beautiful books signed for Nick for gifts through the years.
If you’re not familiar with Tomie DePaola, he is an acclaimed illustrator and author of children’s books. His folk art drawings are absolutely gorgeous. The wee one’s favorite Tomie DePaola book is Get Dressed, Santa!– an instant classic for any child obsessed with the potty!
Tomie was such a warm and generous person. He let us tour his studio and home- and even went out to lunch with us! It was definitely a day none of us will soon forget. Even Sam warmed up to him, quickly making Tomie one of his new best friends.
After a long drive home, I was on the road again for a Girls’ Night! My friend Susan planned a night out at Palettes in Natick, MA. What could be more fun than painting, singing, and drinking with friends? Pretty much nothing! Though I don’t think any of us are destined for art fame, we had a blast trying something new.
To top of the weekend, we bought a new car! I’m looking forward to my sweet new (to me!) ride and some better gas mileage.
Here’s the meal plan for the week- Sunday prep included making baking meatballs and chopping carrots for snacks during the week. I plan to whip up some Banana Muffins on Monday or Tuesday night for quick snacks or breakfasts. No major St. Patrick’s Day plans for us- Monday nights do not say “get drunk and party hard” to this lady!
For now, however, I plan on collapsing into my bed.
Weekly Meal Plan for March 16, 2014
Sunday: Corned Beef and Cabbage at the in-laws’ house. Glad the husband brought me some home- the wee one was NOT up for attending our annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner.
Monday: Italian Wedding Soup with Homemade Mini Meatballs
Tuesday: Spinach and Artichoke Chicken with Quinoa or Rice
Wednesday: Figure it out/ leftovers
Thursday: Pizza with Bacon and Eggs
Friday: Black Bean and Zucchini Pancakes from Shape.com My plan is to mix up the pancake mixture in the AM so they’ll be ready to fry up for dinner!
How do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Green beer, soda bread?
