What exactly is the “The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook Project”?
I, BettyCupcakes (Sarah Puleo), am going to bake and cook my way through the entire Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook. I’ve scheduled it out and it looks like it’ll take me two years. Where is the Back in the Day Bakery?
The Back in the Day Bakery is located in Savannah, Georgia. I cannot wait to visit!
You haven’t even been there? Why are you baking all of their recipes?
I’ve been cooking and baking from scratch for years. In fact, my husband says it was my homemade buttercream frosting that made him fall in love with me. Food really is the way to a man’s heart!
But still, there are so many recipes and techniques I have yet to master. After watching “The Great American Bake Off” on CBS I decided I really wanted to become a better baker. To that end, I felt that baking my way through a cookbook would be the best way to really immerse myself.
I went off to the library and spotted the book. The pictures were gorgeous, the food was classic Americana, and Cheryl and Griff just seemed so dear. I knew I wanted to open my kitchen up to them and learn. I’m from Texas, so I felt right at home with their Southern charm.
